MTHFR is a gene that is found at the end of the human chromosome #1. It codes for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, an enzyme found in the human body that is essential for life. Its primary function is to take inactive folate in the diet or supplements and convert it to the active form of the vitamin, 5-l methylfolate. This activated form helps the body reduce the level of homocysteine by converting it to the amino acid, methionine.
Test Details
The MTHFR genomic test kit will come with 2 buccal swabs. This test will use the DNA collected from the buccal swabs to test a wide variety of genes that have been identified as having a significant clinical impact.
